Been away for so long...I'm changed, I'm not that girl :boogie:

Broken record in my head :D

But anyway, hey guys

Just a quick update of what I'm doing at the moment ;)

I'm still alive, although I don't seem to be busy with photography. Well, that's partly true. I just struggle with two problems: There are still loads of motives here in Scotland for me, I still haven't discovered everything. Problem is, if I do see something interesting I don't have my cam with me. And if I do, it's often the case that I would need my tripod to get a proper photo. Sometimes it's frustrating, mais c'est la vie

On the other hand, I struggle with a lack of creativity when it comes to conceptual photography. I don't know, I've been thinking about my two lightbulbs for three weeks now :lmao: And I bet I will have a descent idea when I'm back in Germany...without my bulbs, of course ;)

But I suppose you'll see new pictures next week or at least in the next couple of weeks in May. Uni is more or less finished. There are just one essay and two exams left, but that doesn't keep me from going out and taking pictures ;) Only the weather can do that, although rain could be awesome sometimes

And as I'll leave Scotland in about four weeks again (wow, it's really 4 weeks :(), I really want to take as much photos as I can since it will be difficult for me to find any interesting motifs in Germany. At least there's nothing in my area that's better than waterfalls :D Maybe, I'll try some architecture photos in Berlin...I have to learn that someday anyway ;)

As for my exhibition: I have my first framed photo...and I love it  Although it's just my tree which is definitely not my favourite picture, it's nevertheless something special :D But anyway, I was offered to have an official opening on the evening before the actual exhibition takes place. So, I might organise this, and I have several appointments at the local printing and framing shop to get everything sorted before I go to Germany again. And if...no when I'm back, I just need to pick up my pictures and everything's fine.

I feel :excited: and since I still can't really decide between all of my pictures I'm thinking about 25 pictures...but pictures varying in size. I don't want it to look so...homogeneous.

Okay guys, that's it for today. My pageviews are running towards 12k which makes me really proud. The next news feature will be up soon, I think that will be the case next week....my last feature from Scotland....:omg: Can't believe that time is really running, just three more years left, it's a shame

See you around

Well, good luck!

A change of scenery is always good for your creativity. Look at old things, but in a new way, when you're back home. What used to be a bridge, may now be a balance scale. [link] You never know!~ ;)

That's true, you're right. But what I do know is that the tree shown in Abandoned doesn't exist anymore. I took the picture and one week later I couldn't find it anymore. I'm afraid this picture is unique then ;) And as I said I will definitely continue taking pictures in my semester break. The question is whether I'll upload them. I might start with architecture that means the first photos will be simply crap, just like my first macros :D But thanks for the encouragement, I really appreciate it

Why are architectural photos crap? I don't think my bridge shots are crap.

Why not try HDRi? It's like a whole new world.

I think you're a purist. Maybe that limits your horizons. Digital photography is boundless is you aren't afraid to experiment. =D

I didn't say that I don't like architecture. And I wouldn't even dare to critisize your picture, it's great. That's why I added it to my 'Architecture Collection' :D the beginning is just difficult, and the very first pictures are crap. I just remember when I started taking photos. I was obsessed with everything. the pictures weren't good, apart from the clock, the tree and maybe the thornes. But that's it from the first pictures  Now, I see what can be a good photo, what can't be a good one, at least for nature and conceptual photos. That's what I have to find out for architecture first...that's what I mean ;)

Everyone has to go through that process, even experienced photographers, if they try something new. So what if some of your stuff is crap?

Most of the shots I use in these HDRi shots would be crap if taken separately. But you put two or three bracketed shots together and adjust about 15 sliders and you have this [link] . All three of the shots that make this up have blown out skies, and I don't know how in God's name HDRi knows what to do, but it does. BTW, this shot has the color turned up a bit because the cranberries look awesome, to me. LOL

ZOMGAH!!! So many emoticons! So many things to do! :faint:

I think that everyone gets insanely busy as the school year winds to a close. At least the American school year is... I just got home from a performance, I have a practice AP exam to make up tomorrow, a practice AP exam to take on Saturday, a real AP exam and a journalese news story next Tuesday, another AP exam the following Thursday... Then I have to find some time to print some poems off the computer before they get hacked and to edit a story for class... :faint:

But nothing that'll affect anyone but me (excepting the stories and performance). Your stuff is going to hit a ton of people. Will you take photos of the exhibition? That would be so exciting to see! The work of the famous ~favocal, on display in Scotland. :faint: (Clearly, that's my favorite emoticon today.)

Good luck and don't drown yourself in too much work! Perhaps looking at the work of others will give you ideas? Read some stuff and see if it inspires you. If you're anywhere near Edinburgh, you might be able to get some shots there (I've heard that it's marvelous there). I'm not sure where to tell you to look, but you'll find something to shoot, sooner or later. ;)

I know that we all have to go through this process, but it's nevertheless frustrating sometimes :D Oh well, we will see. Haven't done any HDRs in the past couple of weeks, maybe I'm going to do this next week again, but first I have to find out whether I still have the HDR programme I normally use :D

My favourite emoticon is :) Because you make me smile  I know there are a lot of emoticons in my journal, but I can't help it, they're so damn cute :D You said I shouldn't drown myself in too much work. What about you then? Who has more work to do? ;) I hope you'll do fine in all of your exams...I keep my fingers crossed for you :)

And yes, of course I will take pictures from my exhibition and then you can see what it was like, I'll do a collection then to include as many pictures as possible. But first of all, there are still a few months left...thank God. I wouldn't know what do to if the exhibition was next month

And surely I'll find some inspirational stuff,as always :D I'll just need a proper amount of time to think about my motives to get the most out of it. Then I'm just sitting there at a waterfall for half an hour and try to figure out which perspective is best and all these things. That's why it sometimes could take me ages to get a photo :D

Are you, maybe, too hard on yourself? Or do you try too hard?

I don't know how I take good photos. Really. I lose myself in the viewfinder and my subjects, and before I know it I've used hundreds megabytes on my memory card. So you see, I'm not very calculated in what I do.

The only reason i told you that is that I think you may think too much, not only while you shoot, but about about "things" in general.

Hope you don't mind this bit of "advice" .
