Hey guys

It's been a while, and unfortunately I'm not coming back for photography. I can't even say that I took a single descent photo since September.

I'm here to let you all know that my two short films are now available on YouTube. If you're interested in having a look, you can watch Broken and Ben any time you feel like it :)

I'd appreciate any comment or feedback. Both come with appropriate subtitles, so as long as you can understand English, you should be happy with it :)

Thanks a lot in advance, even if you just watch it.

Good Bye, Deviantart...forever

After a second attempt to make something out of my profile and pictures again, I can clearly say I failed and it's finally time for me to leave deviantart forever. I'm very sad about this decision, because this website, my community, helped me to get my own exhibition and to develop self-confidence about my work.

However, this all changed last year and there was a big drop of interest. It started in summer 2008 and nothing has changed since then. I was awfully disappointed that it turns out that not even some of my watchers look at my photos anymore since you can fairly say that 12 views out of 171 watchers within a week is something you wouldn't expect after you had very successful weeks and months. After my exhibition it got even worse and now I'm at a point where I say to myself: Stop!

Apparently, I upload my pictures for nothing, and where is the point in doing this? As I already said the last time when I left for a while, I don't see a sense in uploading picture after picture, but nothing comes back. Again, faves are not more important than comments here. But for the past ten months, the situation didn't make me happy at all. I don't get more comments or feedback online than I get from my friends in the real world. So where is the point?

It's a shame because I did like deviantart a lot. But somehow it changed into something very depressing for me. I absolutely adore my new photos, but apparently I'm the only one who wants to see them.

I will switch to another website and see if I can do something there. I registered a while ago, but then left it because I didn't take new pictures. I will go back and I hope the situation will change a little bit. Otherwise, I will either put all my photos onto my own website or they go offline alltogether.

Thanks to everyone who supported me, you were brilliant and you brought me to a lot of good things, I'm very thankful for this  :)

Hey guys

Just a quick message to let you know that I'm still alive. I didn't have time for photography up to now which is really annoying because you all know that I actually planned a new exhibition as well. But if things go ahead like that I don't think I'm going to manage this. I still have a year left though.

Also I have problems with my calendars, I don't think they will be printed before the summer. I hope to get it ready by September though.

But I was working on my first film which was shown at the Oscar ceremony at my university yesterday. It's online as well, so you're all welcome to watch it and maybe give me a little comment as well. That would be lovely :) I try to become a submitting member of DeviantFilm because I have some more ideas, and I want to have them published of course to get some feedback.

I hope to have some time for photography soon again because I really miss it. If not next month, definitely in June since I'll be back in Germany for holiday meaning I have more time

Calendar Announcement & News

I'm very proud to announce my first upcoming calendar for 2010. Unfortunately, I couldn't manage to get something ready for 2009. The design progress is in its last stages, but it will be available for you in June, if you pre-order it by the end of February 2009.

Right now, I can ship the calendar to every country in Europe. If you live outside Europe, but still consider buying it I'm sure we can figure something out. The only thing that will happen is that it's more expensive. I can't say anything about a price so far, but I'm pretty confident in saying that it won't be more expensive than the other calenders here on dA.

What I do want to say is that you will not be able to buy the calendar on dA. If you're interested in buying it, just send me an email to nadin.mai@lifethroughlenses.org and I will get back to you.

All calendars will be autographed!

The following news could be interesting for my :+devwatch: from Germany. It is now possible to order framed pictures from my website lifethroughlenses.org in Germany. Before, I was only able to have them printed and framed in the UK, and shipped in the UK. I found a photo shop in my hometown, and they offer the same frames, I can get in Scotland.

If you visit my website, you can now see two prices for those pictures I offer in Germany which are basically all, but there are exceptions considering the size of the pictures.

I will order the first prints in the second week of January, so that I suggest, if you do consider buying a framed picture, that you send me an email to nadin.mai@lifethroughlenses.org by the 14 January. Then you should have your print by the beginning of February. Everything that comes after the 14th needs a bit more time, since I have to co-ordinate everything from Scotland which might be more difficult.

Just check out my website, and have a look at all the prints, especially at my new pictures I added two days ago :)

---

I already plan an exhibition for September 2010. I will get things sorted next semester when I'm back in Scotland. I want to have everything ready by the end of next year since I go to France as well. And it's too late to organise everything when I'm back for my final year in Stirling.

I have a lot of ideas already for the exhibition, it'll be something different from what I had before. I don't want to say too much, but what I can say is that I will have themes ;)

---

Again, I think about reducing my activity on dA to a minimum since it's very disappointing to see that only a few people seem to be interested in my latest works after I bought my new cam. It is really obvious that since then the activities on my page decreased which I find a little bit strange.

I want to make clear that it's not about pageviews or favs or anything. My problem is that I hardly get any comments, and if I do get comments it's merely a 'very lovely', which is actually fine. But I need feedback. I already said something similar before.

I simply can't develop myself if no one gives me proper feedback. Right now, I just add pictures and hope it's okay. But I'll never know if the focus could have been better, if the color is vibrant enough for the motif...I mean, yes, it's my picture, it's my decision. Still, a progress needs feedback. And if I see that my new pictures have just about 30 non-feedback-writing visitors, but I have 170 watchers then I ask myself if there's still a point in uploading photos if nothing happens anyway. And even worse is that you start asking yourself whether the quality of your pictures decreased to an extent that no one wants to say it...

Yes, you do get paranoid believe me.

---

I hope you had a lovely Christmas all together, all over the world. I hope you will have a wonderful New Year's Eve in a couple of days and will welcome the new year 2009 in a proper manner...with fireworks en masse :)

I wish you all the best in the new year, good luck with your photo projects, good luck with everything you planned

Hey all

First of all, thank you all for the 16K. This is really amazing, and I'm very proud of it. You make me very happy :) Thanks a bunch to all the people visiting my gallery and appreciating my work :glomp:

But I do want to say sorry as well. I haven't been active much in the last couple of weeks. Since I had my exhibition, I wasn't out much to take a couple of new photos apart from the trip to Glasgow. I was in Edinburgh twice, and it was awesome what I saw. But it was at night, and - of course - I didn't have my tripod with me. What a shame :( I plan another trip next semester, because I won't have time to go in my last three weeks here in Scotland.

I do struggle to find the time to go out for a couple of hours and just get new impressions of where I actually live :D What I intend to do is going out in December just before Christmas, and try to get some proper pictures in Berlin again.

I intend to buy a new lense as well. But I can't really decide what kind of lense I should buy: macro or telezoom...I think I just go into a shop and try different kinds.

Furthermore, people over in Germany badly want to buy my pictures which makes me really happy. I'll go and find a proper photo shop over there which is able to print my pictures in the same quality they have right now. The guys from the Scottish shop which printed and framed all the pictures for the exhibition tries to figure out whether there is a shop in Germany where I can buy the frames I chose for my pictures. Because I simply don't want to change this. These frames are simply perfect. If everything works out fine, I might be able to sell my pictures in Germany as well :)

I hope you're not too disappointed, especially not my new :+devwatch:, but I do promise that there will be new pictures again...hopefully soon :)

Have a nice weekend all together
