The focus does draw the attention to the flower, but the low depth of field (that's overall what's in focus, right? If so, horray for journalism classes!) is a bit bothersome. I love the flower. It's looks cool and soft.

If I remember correctly, the depth of field is whats in focus. So if the depth is great, objects will be in focus despite their distance. If not, only one object will be sharp.
